Spectacular laser show to light up sky in Pawleys Island July 2 and 3

“Wave That Flag” is a new two-day festival of family fun, vendors, concerts, and sports celebrating America and the Fourth of July holiday ready in Pawleys Island that culminate each night with a spectacular laser light show sponsored by the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce and South Carolina’s Hammock Coast.

“Wave That Flag,” which is free of charge to attend and hosted by the Georgetown County Parks and Rec Department and coordinated by VibeTime, will be held Sunday, July 2, and Monday, July 3, at Retreat Park in Pawleys Island. The event will open at 5 p.m. both days. The park is located at 633 Wildcat Way in the Litchfield community of Pawleys Island.

The Laser Light show, produced by Stone Entertainment, will beam over the heads of festival-goers, creating a dazzling display that will be set to a playlist featuring patriotic-themed music. Multiple fog machines will be used, as well, creating the appearance of a roof overhead, enhancing the visual experience for attendees.

The two-day “Wave That Flag” event will also feature live music, food, vendors and even kickball games.

“We will have a lot of local and regional vendors, allowing people to enjoy dinner and local craft beers,” said Blaine Harvey, one of the event’s organizers. “The gates open at 5 p.m. and bands hit the stage at 6 p.m. We will start the Laser Light show when the sun goes down and everyone will be home by 10.”

The Laser Light Show will be the first time the light-and-music experience has been held on the Hammock Coast for a Fourth of July-themed event.

“The Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to sponsor the first-ever Laser Light Show on both days leading up to Independence Day,” said Beth Stedman, the Chamber’s president and CEO. “On behalf of our Board of Directors and our nearly 700 members, it’s a pleasure to work with the Georgetown County Parks and Rec team to make this event happen for both local residents and visitors to South Carolina’s Hammock Coast.”

Asheville, N.C.-based Unihorn, featuring members of the Empire Strikes Brass, will be the featured band on Sunday, July 2, while the Reckoning, a Grateful Dead tribute band out of Charleston, will headline the Monday evening concert. Other musical acts will also be featured, including Whiskey Neat.

Among the food trucks and restaurants slated to be serving attendees are The Gnosh Pit Food Truck, Black Cat Mobile Kitchen, Lowcountry Cantina, LazyMoon BBQ and The Litchfield Restaurant, among others. The park’s concession stand will be operated by the Baskervill Food Pantry.

More than 20 vendors will also be selling their wares, including New South Brewing, Oakley Vines Mobile Bar, Brittney’s Sweet Shop, Ryann Breton Jewelry, and Allison Vibras, a local artist.

Part of the entertainment all include a Litchfield vs Pawleys kickball game, as well.

The Wave That Flag festival is one of only a number of exciting Independence Day-themed events happening on the Hammock Coast this year. Other events including parades, fireworks and concerts. For a look at the seven amazing things to do for July 4th on the Hammock Coast, click here.
