Here are five activities Dad will love along the Hammock Coast®

South Carolina’s Hammock Coast is one of the premier family vacation destinations in the South, and if you are looking for a great Father’s Day gift, the area is home to a number of Dad-friendly activities that will bolster every trip.

Whether the old man goes out to enjoy some fun by himself or the entire family joins in, here are five Hammock Coast attractions that double as great Father’s Day gifts. (And all these are in addition to being able to spend time at one of our famous beaches!)

● Pawleys Island is home to some of America’s premier golf courses, including Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club, both of which are ranked among the nation’s top 100 resort courses. In total the area has 13 layouts that offer a range of experiences so if your Pops likes to hit the links, let him pack his clubs.

● How about sending Dad out to catch dinner? The Hammock Coast offers some of South Carolina’s premier fishing as our bountiful coast provides the opportunity to catch everything from tuna to dolphin (mahi mahi) and flounder. Great inshore and offshore fishing excursions are available. A charter fishing trip is an unforgettable experience, and the folks at Crazy Sister Marina can get Dad ready to reel in the big one.

Backwoods Quail Club offers 15,000 acres of fun for outdoorsmen. Guided quail, turkey and pheasant hunts are a guaranteed good time, and Backwoods Quail Club is home to a pair of 15-station sporting clays courses. The host of the 2022 U.S. Open of Sporting Clays, the property appeals to everyone one from the novice sportsman to professionals.

● If you want to enjoy the beauty of the Hammock Coast up close, a guided kayak tour is hard to beat. A trip through Murrells Inlet allows you to watch dolphins, turtles, crabs, birds and more in their natural habitat, while a Cypress Swamp tour will allow you to experience the area’s Lowcountry beauty. Perhaps even more memorable is the Full Moon tour, which provides vacationers the rare opportunity to watch the sunset over the marsh while the moon rises over the Atlantic. Bring a camera.

● For Dads who love history, a trip to Hobcaw Barony is a must. The 16,000-acre property was once the site of a dozen thriving rice plantations and it has hosted U.S. presidents and foreign dignitaries such as Winston Churchill. Hobcaw also offers the opportunity to tour original slave camps that were occupied long after emancipation. A trip to Hobcaw takes visitors on a tour of more than 300 years of Lowcountry history.

If you want to get a Father’s Day gift that will enhance your next trip to the Hammock Coast, these five activities will deliver.
