5 Sep Wave That Flag’s laser light show celebrates great summer on the Hammock Coast Beautiful weather, impressive bands, an amazing laser light show, and an after-party with dancing made the third annual Wave That Flag event in the Litchfield Beach community of Pawleys Island a great success. Organizers say this signature event on South Carolina’s Hammock Coast®, held on Sept. 1, 2025, at Retreat Park, was well attended. We even moved the stage back this year to create more room and it was still full.” The event was originally planned for the weekend after the Fourth of July holiday, but it was moved to Labor Day Weekend because of inclement weather for the second year in a row. “Labor Day provides an end-of-summer celebration, especially for those of us who are working in the service industry like me,” Harvey said. “We made it. We did it. Now it’s time to celebrate.” The bands for the event were HeadStrings from Charleston and Whiskey Neat from Myrtle Beach. Harvey said both bands did a wonderful job entertaining the crowd. New South Brewing was also a sponsor for the event. “Much thanks to the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce and the Hammock Coast for believing in the concept and supporting fun family activities,” Harvey said. “And thanks to Georgetown County Parks and Recreation for the use of Retreat Park and to new South Brewing for their continued support of our local community.” Beth Stedman, president and CEO of the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce, said she and the Chamber’s board of directors were glad to contribute and help make Wave That Flag possible again this year. “This unique community event, with live music and a laser light show, is something different and exciting for people who live here or visit the Hammock Coast during the Labor Day holiday,” Stedman said. “We know people enjoyed an evening of exciting entertainment and family fun.” Stone Entertainment created a dazzling variety of colors, textures and shapes using lasers. He said one of his favorite parts of this year’s event was the after-party with recorded music and dancing. “That was the highlight of the evening for me,” he said. “It was a great way to put this summer season behind us and move into the fantastic fall season on the Hammock Coast.” Other signature events on the Hammock Coast include the Hammock Day Festival in July, the Wooden Boat Show in October, and the Tour de Plantersville bike ride and Cultural Festival, held in late October or early November each year.
