20 Aug ‘Wave That Flag’ Festival set for Sept. 1 as end-of-summer event The Wave That Flag Festival, set for Sunday, Sept.1, will celebrate summertime and Labor Day on South Carolina’s Hammock Coast®. After rave reviews last year, the “Wave That Flag” festival, which features live music, vendors, food and culminates with a spectacular laser light show, is returning to the Litchfield community of Pawleys Island. This year’s event was originally planned for the July 4th holiday but was postponed due to weather. The ‘Wave That Flag’ event in Pawleys Island features a laser light spectacular. The park, which will be open from 5 to 10 p.m., is located at 633 Wildcat Way in the Litchfield community of Pawleys Island. “We invite the community out to enjoy a free evening that is family friendly and won’t break the bank,” said Blaine Harvey, event organizer. “This will be an affordable event with a wow factor.” The Laser Light show, produced by Stone Entertainment and sponsored by the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce and South Carolina’s Hammock Coast®, will beam over the heads of festival-goers, creating a dazzling display that will be set to a playlist featuring patriotic-themed music. Multiple fog machines will be used, as well, creating the appearance of a roof overhead, enhancing the visual experience for attendees. The Wave That Flag event will also feature live music by Doc Simons and JP Taylor, food trucks, vendors, and even Liberty Kickball Classic games. Face painters and other artists will also be there vending.” The Laser Light Show will be the second time the light-and-music experience has been held on the Hammock Coast, the first being a Fourth of July-themed event in 2023. “The Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce and the Hammock Coast are pleased to sponsor this Laser Light Show to celebrate the end of summer,” said Beth Stedman, the Chamber’s president and CEO. “It’s a pleasure to work with the Georgetown County Parks and Rec team to make this event happen for both local residents and visitors to South Carolina’s Hammock Coast.” About South Carolina’s Hammock Coast Georgetown County’s casual charm and Southern hospitality earned it the nickname Hammock Coast.
