7 Dec Here are the Top 5 Hammock Coast must-experience activities for 2024 The New Year is coming into view on the horizon, which means people are furiously making resolutions, many of them focusing on dieting and exercise, for the coming 12 months, but all of your goals for 2024 shouldn’t revolve around denying yourself something. If you are planning a trip to South Carolina’s Hammock Coast (as I’m sure you are), the focus should be on making your next vacation the best one yet. With that in mind, here are five Hammock Coast activities you need to make a personal vow to enjoy in the coming year. ● Head to Murrells Inlet and enjoy SeaKart Adventure. The watercraft, powered by a 110-horsepower engine, is a cross between a jet ski and a boat, providing the stability to make everyone comfortable and a sense of adventure. Most importantly, the SeaKarts will allow you to experience the beauty of Murrells Inlet up close. This is one of the area’s coolest new attractions, and it’s great for the entire family. ● At the heart of the Hammock Coast’s appeal is its coastal beauty, making a shelling and lighthouse boat tour a must. Riding on a large, covered pontoon boat, you can take a 4-hour trip to South Carolina’s oldest lighthouse, which opened in 1811, and relish the opportunity to comb a stunning stretch of undisturbed beach that is full of shells. A shelling and lighthouse tour is as relaxing as it is memorable. ● If you are an outdoor enthusiast, go to Back Woods Quail Club and test your skills at one of the South’s premier sporting clays facilities. Located on Old Morrisville Plantation, with more than 15,000 acres of open fields, timber lands and wooded area, Back Woods Quail is a former host of the U.S. Open Sporting Clays Championship, highlighting the quality of the facility. ● America’s park systems are a national treasure, and Huntington Beach State Park is a perfect example of why that’s the case. From the saltmarsh and undisturbed beach to Atalaya Castle and miles of hiking and bike trails, Huntington Beach State Park is a family-friendly attraction guaranteed to delight. Did we mention HBSP is widely regarded as the best birding spot on the East Coast? ● Make visiting Front Street in historic Georgetown, which counts the South Carolina Maritime Museum and Kaminski House among its many attractions, a priority. In between stops, you can enjoy a meal overlooking the Sampit River, further reinforcing what a great idea it is to spend an afternoon along Front Street in Georgetown. These are New Year’s resolutions you will be delighted to fulfill. By Chris King for South Carolina’s Hammock Coast® 0 Garden City, Georgetown, Hammock-All, Litchfield, Murrells Inlet, Pawleys Island
