22 Jun Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, True Blue Golf Club ranked among South Carolina’s best public courses by Golfweek PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. — Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Golf Club, two of the nation’s most celebrated public layouts, have once again been recognized among South Carolina’s premier layouts in Golfweek’s annual ranking of the Best Public-Access Courses in each state. The honor reinforces the standing of the adjacent Pawleys Island courses at the top of the Hammock Coast and Myrtle Beach golf markets. Designed by the late Mike Strantz, Caledonia was ranked No. 4, sandwiched between Broomsedge and the Dunes Golf & Beach Club, two membership-based courses that offer limited public play, and True Blue was No. 6. This recognition is a tribute to his vision and to the dedication of our team, which works every day to ensure golfers enjoy the experience he intended.” While linked by Strantz’s creative genius, the two courses offer dramatically different experiences. Caledonia, Strantz’s first solo design, winds through centuries-old live oak trees draped in Spanish moss, blending seamlessly into the natural beauty of the South Carolina Lowcountry. The course is renowned for its strategic design, unforgettable visuals, and iconic finishing hole along the Waccamaw River. Located across the street, True Blue presents a striking contrast. The expansive layout features generous fairways, dramatic waste areas, and bold green complexes. With five par 3s and five par 5s, True Blue showcases Strantz’s willingness to challenge convention while creating a course that is both visually stunning and enjoyable to play. These Pawleys Island courses are located in the heart of South Carolina’s Hammock Coast, the pristine coastal region just south of Myrtle Beach. They are two of 11 Hammock Coast Golf Trail courses.
