Love is in the air as Brookgreen hosts Valentine’s Day renewal-of-vows ceremony

Once again, Brookgreen Gardens is playing Cupid to the true believers of love and romance with a Valentine’s Day renewal-of-vows ceremony.

As it has done now for several years, Brookgreen will offer couples a chance to renew their vows on Saturday, Feb. 14, in a stunning, romantic setting underneath a canopy of centuries-old oak trees.

Titled “Romance in the Gardens,” the renewal-of-vows event creates a lasting memory for couples on Valentine’s Day that’s billed as “a magical celebration of love and commitment set against the breathtaking backdrop of Brookgreen Gardens.”

Couples will exchange vows beneath the sweeping branches of the iconic Live Oak Allee, where the timeless beauty of nature enhances this heartfelt moment. Each couple will receive a beautifully designed commemorative certificate, making this experience a cherished keepsake to symbolize the continuation of love and devotion.

Following the ceremony, couples will delight in an elegant dining experience at Austin’s Harvest Restaurant, Brookgreen’s signature restaurant on-site, where they’ll indulge in a specially curated Valentine’s Day menu and savor delicious dishes crafted with seasonal ingredients in a romantic, candlelit setting.

Starting out with a glass of Prosecco, the couples will then choose selections for three courses.

For the appetizer course, each person will choose one of these options: House Mixed Green Salad with choice of dressing; Caesar Salad with Romaine Lettuce, Harvest Caesar Dressing, and Buttery Croutons; She Crab Soup Cup; Stuffed Mushrooms; or Prosciutto-wrapped Asparagus with Lemon Pepper Aioli.

For the main course, the selections are: Marry Me Again Chicken (Sauteed Chicken Breast with Shrimp Scampi Skewer and Garlic Butter Sauce, Whipped Potatoes and Mixed Vegetables;
Pistachio Grouper with Thai Basil and White Wine Crab Sauce, Green Beans and Risotto; or Sirloin Steak Dinner with Whipped Potatoes and Asparagus.

For the dessert offerings, diners will choose from: House Made Biscuit Strawberry Shortcake with Strawberry Compote and Whipped Cream; Carrot Cake; Tartufo for Two; Raspberry Sorbet; Caramel Sea Salt Gelato; or Chocolate Godiva Mousse Parfait.

Tickets are limited to “Romance in the Gardens” and must be purchased in advance at this link. Only one ticket is required for every couple. Cost is $180/couple for members and $190/couple for non-members.

Tickets are non-refundable; unused tickets will be considered a donation to Brookgreen Gardens.  The ceremony and reception are only open to those aged 21 and over.  

Since all registered attendees receive Admission to the Gardens they are encouraged to come early, as this special ticketed event includes admissions to Brookgreen, they are encouraged to come early and enjoy the Gardens.

Organizers also note that “Romance in the Gardens” is not a wedding ceremony and is only open to those legally married before the date of the event.

Friends and/or family are welcome to watch the ceremony with the purchase of a general admission ticket, but the dinner is only for the couples participating in the renewal ceremony.
