Experience One of the Best Fishing Destinations in South Carolina

South Carolina’s Hammock Coast® offers fantastic options for anglers in search of the perfect little fishing hole, or those who prefer to take to the ocean on the chance of hooking a big one. For those with their own boat, there are several marinas and boat ramps to assist you for your day of fun and fishing with family and friends. Of course, there are boat rentals and fishing excursions available for hire, as well. However you choose to spend your day here in the Hammock Coast® – on one of our rivers or casting a line on the Atlantic Ocean, we know you will experience what professional anglers have known for years: there are some great fish out there!

Fishing Charters Available Year-round.

Need help with your fishing outing in the Hammock Coast®? No problem! Anglers can participate in one of more than 20 guided fishing charters on the inshore creeks and byways of Murrells Inlet and Winyah Bay, as well as the Waccamaw, Black, Great Pee Dee, Little Pee Dee and Sampit rivers. Enthusiasts can also take part in offshore excursions on the Atlantic Ocean. For anglers who prefer to go it alone, there are many areas to explore.

Year-round, anglers can catch red drum, redfish, speckled sea trout, sheepshead, black drum, blue marlin and flounder, just to name a few. And depending on the season, they can bring in tarpon, sharks and more offshore.

Tournaments Put International Spotlight on the Hammock Coast

South Carolina’s Hammock Coast® attracts some of the biggest professional fishing tournaments to its shores and rivers. Since 2005, our region has hosted the BASSMASTER Elite Series out of the Carroll Campbell Marine Complex. That tournament, which is televised on ESPN, draws thousands of fishing enthusiasts and culminates with an awards ceremony in front of a huge local crowd – and an international TV audience. The 2022 Strike King Bassmaster College Series National Championship  is bringing nearly 250 college anglers to Georgetown and the Hammock Coast during Labor Day weekend. The annual Blue Marlin Tournament (part of the South Carolina Governor’s Cup Billfishing Series) has also been hosted at Georgetown Landing Marina for more than a half-century. Other fishing events have included the Georgetown Wahoo Challenge and the International Fishing Association’s Redfish Tour.
